E-vignette accounts for almost half of all vignettes sold

The 2026 vignette is blue. But we don't see it very often anymore. Almost half of all drivers are already opting for the e-vignette.

The Federal Office for Customs and Border Security (FOCC) sold eleven million vignettes last year. Almost half of the buyers chose the digital version, which has been available since summer 2023. The e-vignette will account for 45 percent of all vignettes sold in 2025, compared to 35 percent the previous year.

42 percent of e-vignette buyers come from abroad. This corresponds to 2.1 million foreign vehicles for which the Swiss motorway toll of 40 francs was paid digitally. The highest demand came from our neighboring countries: Germany (18.7 percent), France (9 percent), and Italy (3.9 percent).

Fraud Warning
The 2026 motorway vignette will be available from December 1, 2025. Both the traditional adhesive version and the e-vignette will be available. The 2026 adhesive vignette will be blue and will continue to be available at post offices, garages, and petrol stations. The digital version will be available from December 1 in the Federal Office of Customs and Border Security's (BAZG) online shop at e-vignette.ch.

The BAZG recommends purchasing the vignette only through the official shop without additional fees. Any shop that charges additional fees is not the official BAZG shop. Furthermore, the Federal Office of Customs and Border Security warns of fraudulent scams related to the e-vignette. No requests for verification or updating of personal data will be sent.
